Casamicciola is a
seaside and thermal resort of high livel placed on the
north-coast of the ischia island. It's composed by an high part
on the nill and low part on the sea with an harbor. Since 1956
Casamicciola has added the word "Terme" to lay stress on his
thermal springs. The coat-of-arms has a little river were the
old Nizzola dips her feet and recovered her ills. This act lays
stress on the big importance that his, thermal springs have now
and in the past.
An old legend told that
Ulisse recovered his health in the Gurgitiello's water, a spring
that flowed on surface to flow in the sea near the "Pio Monte of
Misericordia". About the middle of XX century the village was
very famous for his thermal springs: writers like Lamartine,
Renan, Ibsen with their writting helped to increase his name.
Casamicciola is the reference-point for somebody come to ischia
